About Mark Rathbone
Mark Rathbone started on the spanners down in Gosford, where he spent his weekends helping in his uncle’s transmission workshop prior to starting his apprenticeship.
In 1998 Mark started an apprenticeship repairing earth moving equipment, where he spent the next ten years expanding his knowledge in the heavy diesel equipment. Mark’s particular interest was in wet clutch transmission, where he gained valuable experience in all types of industrial transmissions systems.
Mark Moved to Cairns in 1997, where he started up Truck Plant and Marine Repairs. This business ran successfully for 10 years, repairing a variety of equipment with particular emphasis on Marine Vessels.
Whilst taking a break from running a business, Mark worked at the Porgera mine site in the western highlands of Papua New Guinea, maintaining a fleet of Face-Shovels and Excavators – it was from here that Rathbone Marine Engineering evolved in 2013.
